The Dutch Branch of GS1 and Comarch Work Together
The global IT service provider, Comarch is expanding its cooperation with GS1, an international non-profit organization dedicated to the development and implementation of standards in supply chain management field. For 15 years, Comarch has been working closely with GS1 in many countries, including Poland, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Croatia, Russia and Ukraine. The company helps adapt standards to meet market needs and develops solutions that improve the exchange of information between partners throughout the supply chain.
– Omnichannel retailing has become a “must” business model in the strategies of modern retailers. Thus, a comprehensive approach to integrate all processes in the supply chain is important. It allows to optimize operations and improve collaboration with business partners. The role of GS1 is crucial in this cooperation. The organization is a link between all interested parties and it develops standards in response to market needs. Comarch EDI has been cooperating with GS1 for over 15 years in several countries. We are also a member of the European E-Invoicing Service Providers Association (EESPA). GS1 is an international non-profit organization that developments and implements standards for identification and communication in the supply chain. The aim of the organization is to bring supermarkets and drugstores, hardware stores, clothing stores, hospitals, logistics service providers and IT suppliers together.
GS1
GS1 focuses on the standardization of data media, such as barcodes (GS1 barcodes) or radio tags (radio frequency GS1 EPC) used for example by retailers, manufacturers, and suppliers; standardization of messages in electronic data interchange (GS1 eCom); data synchronization of basic products (GS1 GDSN); as well as issues relating to the exchange of information about events based on RFID technology and the Internet. Standards and solutions developed and implemented by the company reduce the cost of doing business; in particular, by reducing operating expenses in the supply chain. The organization is controlled by its members. They determine the current policy and set priorities. In the Netherlands, the Board consists of nine members and the chair is Erik-Jan Mares of Ahold.
