Italcementi is an Italian company whose widespread presence and ability to provide quality and innovative solutions to the building community for the past 155 years, make it a leader in the construction materials sector. Since 2016, Italcementi has been part of the HeidelbergCement group - the world's leading supplier of building materials, with over 62,000 employees at more than 3,000 production facilities.
Always looking for new and exciting ways to drive better results, Italcementi saw the recently established (1 January 2019) legal regulations that require companies to issue electronic invoices to private entities, as an opportunity to optimize and improve its document management (invoicing) processes.
Making legally compliant invoicing procedures their top priority, the company also wanted to incorporate other electronic document flows, those excluded from the mandatory transition (from/to flat-rate schemes, small suppliers) into Sistema Di Interscambio (SDI) – an Italian electronic document interchange system.
Comarch E-Invoicing is a powerful and comprehensive product that both streamlines and automates all of your AP/AR invoicing processes to enable a secure and highly efficient document exchange between all business partners and clients. Created to address the challenges of the ongoing digital transformation, it is fully compliant with the latest legal regulations and modern standards for data transfer.
The platform implemented at Italcementi includes functionalities such as e-archiving, document validation, format conversion, multichannel distribution as well as an advanced optical character recognition (OCR) system.
As a result of the collaboration between Italcementi and Comarch, invoices issued or received through the SDI are now mapped and sent to Italcementi's ERP system in a format that meets the company’s business and technological requirements.
Apart from providing the comprehensive management of e-invoicing processes, the advanced optical character recognition (OCR) system has been introduced for the registration of documents sent by entities that are not required to issue electronic invoices.
The data - extracted from both scanned paper invoices and the invoices received in digital format - is then being processed, converted into a format that meets Italcementi's needs, and automatically imported into the ERP system.
The implemented IT solution also contains the latest AI/machine learning algorithms that allow the system to improve its accuracy over time, thus reducing or even eliminating the need for any human intervention.
Keeping our business competitive means continuously investing in the pursuit of efficiency, testing new technologies and in this respect Italcementi considers Comarch the right partner for this kind of path."
