The Comarch Capital Group has published its financial results for the three quarters of 2020. In nine months, the company generated PLN 1.06 billion in revenue from the sale of services, which means an increase of PLN 41.5 million compared to the same period of 2019. Operating profit has also increased. Its value was PLN 117.9 million, i.e. 5.5 million more than last year. EBITDA profit amounted to PLN 182.8 million, PLN 6.7 million higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company was lower than a year ago by PLN 2.7 million and amounted to PLN 67 million.
In Q3 2020 alone, the Comarch Group sold products and services with a value of PLN 353.7 million, very similar to that achieved in Q3 of the previous year. The operating profit reached PLN 46.1 million and was PLN 20.1 million lower than in the corresponding period in 2019. Net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company amounted to PLN 32.5 million. When analyzing the Group's profitability in this period, it should be borne in mind that the financial results for the third quarter of the previous year included the effect of the release of provisions for the ZUS KSI contract, worth PLN 24 million.
The largest part of the Comarch Group's revenue in the first three quarters of 2020 was sales of IT systems for small and medium-sized enterprises in Poland and the DACH region, which amounted to PLN 220.1 million, an increase of PLN 26.1 million compared to the same period in 2019. Sales of products and services for banks and financial institutions also increased, growing year on year by PLN 37.5 million and reaching PLN 179.8 million. Sales to the medical sector also increased dynamically. Contracts with healthcare facilities translated into revenues of PLN 29.3 million, i.e. PLN 9.3 million more than in the same period of the previous year. In turn, revenue fell by PLN 31.7 million in the telecommunications companies segment. The value of sales of products and services to TMT sector customers was PLN 212.5 million. Revenue from sales to customers from the industry and utilities sector also decreased slightly, amounting to PLN 125.4 million, i.e. by PLN 1.3 million less than a year ago. To customers from the trade and services sector, the value of those contracts decreased by PLN 3.1 million to PLN 172.1 million. On the other hand, sales to public sector customers increased by PLN 1.6 million to PLN 97.8 million.
In the third quarter alone, sales of products and services to banks and financial institutions increased by PLN 4.4 million compared to the same period in 2019, reaching PLN 58.6 million. The Comarch Group has also recorded a significant increase in revenue in the small and medium-sized enterprise sector. Here, the value of the contracts was PLN 75.8 million, PLN 9 million more than last year. Higher revenues were also generated in the public administration sector - up by PLN 14 million to PLN 40.9 million, and in the healthcare segment, where customers purchased IT systems and services worth PLN 9.6 million, i.e. PLN 3.3 million more than a year ago. Revenue fell by PLN 16.9 million in the sale of products for trade and service companies. This group of customers purchased services worth PLN 46.4 million. In the case of industrial clients, revenue fell by PLN 7.5 million and amounted to PLN 39.4 million in Q3 2020. Lower revenues were also generated by the Comarch Group's sales to TMT sector customers, which amounted to PLN 70.4 million, PLN 13 million lower than in 2019.
- The macroeconomic situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on the demand for Comarch's services. In the case of the commercial, service and industrial sectors, companies limited their investments in the purchase of IT products, so sales revenues to this group of companies decreased. On the other hand, greater interest in IT solutions from small and medium-sized enterprises, banks and financial institutions, as well as medical facilities, has translated into higher revenues for this group of clients. Diversification of sales markets in terms of products and geography allows us to maintain good sales results and a stable company situation – concludes Konrad Tarański, Vice-President of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer of Comarch.
During the three quarters of 2020, Comarch also increased employment by 277 people. At the end of September this year, it employed 6 625 people, including 627 abroad. Staff development was related to the summer internship program carried out in the third quarter.
